The Quiet Man Drinking Game – Esteban’s St. Patrick’s Day Extravaganza

This movie is one of my absolute favorites to watch and drink to. In fact, I love it so much that I watch it every year for St. Patrick’s Day, usually preceding the annual viewing of PBS music videos of traditional Irish folk music. It reminds me of a simpler time, one in which you stuck to your gumptions, didn’t listen to your women when she’s actin’ stupid, and beat up her brother when he’s an asshole. If that doesn’t win you over to watch this movie, GTFO.

For the truly adventurous and in honor of St. Patrick himself, Esteban challenges you to play with the joyous bum wine Wild Irish Rose. This vile concoction is so repulsive, even college students won’t drink it. Not even the federal government in its state of nanny-ness wants to touch regulation of the liquid. Relegated to the hobo’s who collect 4 dollars in change, bum wine gives your stomach, taste buds, and neural connections a run for their money. Not surprisingly, it’s widely available and incredibly cheap. It’s very much like downing three pills of Nyquil, with the side affect of extreme dehydration. A side car gallon of water is acceptable and highly encouraged. If you think you’re edgy by drinking Four Loko, you’re a tool that has no business faking your love of John Wayne movies.  Swill some bum wine and rage like a man! (extra chilled)

Drink every time…

  • A character takes a drink (ya owe two if it’s whiskey and you aren’t playing with some)
  • The red headed vixen Maureen O’Hara tries to run away/avoid Sean, or bitches about her dowry
  • Liquid makes unwanted contact with a human
  • You can’t understand what someone says (from the thick Irish accent, or if you’re too hammered)

  • Drink every time you witness an act of violence.
